Monday morning. The shrill sound of the alarm reflected in your ears. It’s cold, rainy and your warm bed invites you for 1 last turn. Earlier you could enjoy the sound of chirping birds and you enthusiastically started the week, nowadays you dread moving that mountain. Time to stop your job or bite the bullet?
Job denounce is not that easy. “Ask yourself if you’re happy,” people often say. Nice and easy said but in real life it will be much more. Not being happy with your job can depend on a lot of different reasons. Maybe the distance makes it impossible to maintain a social life. In your mind you could or want to change something, you just want to grow, learn or try something new.
Try to figure out what exactly the reason is to leave or to do something else. Is it the content of your job or the inessentials? Is this what you don’t like, a part of this work and if so, do you want to learn dealing with this? Also remember where you’re doing it for. Probably you have your job for a good salary or the creative challenge it has/had or because of familiar surroundings. But look at the bigger picture: what do you want to achieve in your career and does this work contribute this? If it does think about internal achievments, grow and talk with your boss about it.
“Changing jobs or leaving a company is not a decision to be made lightly, but if your work is not aligned with your purpose, change is necessary.” – Robbie Bach, former Microsoft senior executive
Remember that you’re committed this job to work hard, and short or long, you’ve once worked hard to be where you are right now! You’ve built many valuable relationships and learned a lot, what you shouldn’t easily set aside.
So there are a couple of reasons that should helping you make the decision to stop or stay.
- Conflicts without solution in sight,
There can be always that annoying guy or girl in your company, or just somebody you don´t like. But it also can be your boss. If you really don´t see an out-way anymore, why you should light up effort in the long tunnel. “Never throw something away before you have the new or can miss it.”
2.If you really have a good opportunity or job offer,
You knew that it was possible that something could cross your pad. Maybe you was searching for something, but if a really good chance comes on your way and nothing can stop you, then go for it!
3.Making and growing income by yourself,
When you start to see more money from your creativity or hobby flow, then maybe you can start by more effort living from it. Or maybe you made more capital in the past time and start a business or with investment, which of course takes more risks instead of already having a money flow and do more of it!
Altogether, always try to make the right decision that will not regret. But even that is easier said than practice, but forewarned count. If you make the step, make sure you can defray the financial part, keep track on your old or new job and just enjoy the experience and lessons.
